A TRIBUTE TO LORI SANCHEZ
By Lori Sanchez,
Ms. Lori Sanchez,
Ms Senior America 1991 has written, in her own words, how she felt about her life, and winning Ms. Senior America.
Once upon a time there was a little girl in Chicago who dreamed of becoming an actress on the New York stage.
She studied diligently from the age of seven to achieve her goal. The daughter of Theresa and William Price, and sister to Rita and Bud, was the "baby" of the family. The apple of her daddy's eye. Oh, how she was loved! Her parents were uneducated but very hard working and denied themselves many things to nourish, clothe, and educate the children. They instilled in the three the value and dignity of life and love of their fellow men. Their three children knew they were blessed... they knew they had the best parents in all the world. For, these two beautiful parents lived for their children and taught them faith, hope and charity, to love God and their country.
Lori acted for about six years around the New England area, where she grew up. She married and had three of her own wonderful children. She clung to the teachings of Theresa and Will while raising their chldren. She worked for Shirley MacLaine. Then she became a hair stylist. THEN SOMETHING MAGICAL happened to her in Atlantic City on April 25, 1991. To her utter amazement, she competed in the Ms. Senior America Pageant and she won! She received the title of Ms Senior America 1991 for one year!
She got rave reviews from her children, friends, and peers. A quote for one of the many letters she received during her reign, "...I feel fortunate and feel someone up there loves me very much, for he gave me you to brighten my life, If only for a few fleeting moments... It's the moments I savor and remember." This letter was from a lovely senior lady she met while signing autographs at Ocean One in Atlantic City.
"Thankful
for the opportunity to be part of society’s solution, I am
determined to leave this planet a better place than I found it."
Lori says, "When I was asked what was it like to be Ms. Senior America, well, it meant the world to me, my shining hour! Her deepest joy, however, was knowing that Theresa, Will, Rita and Bud had guided her steps and were up in God's balcony smiling, and cheering, also clapping "to beat the band." So when Lori says, "My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my brother thanks you, my sister thanks you, "...she means it from the bottom of her heart.
Last but not least,I made John Sanchez very, very proud. He was my fiance when I won, and soon after he became my adored husband. How fortunate can a woman be?
Lori writes an update as to her activities. She still is performing for Alzheimers and Cancer benefits and has made several commercials for their benefit. She says that she is looking forward to seeing all her Senior America Cameo Club friends at the National Ms Senior America Pageant.

Lori Sanchez wore her National Queen Banner in her casket. All State Queens and Cameo Club members from the State of Nevada attended the funeral services, wearing their Senior America banners. Lori we will miss you for ever!Dr. Sandra Greco sent this poem to Sonia Mittelstedt when Sonia lost her sister recently, and it was very comforting to her. Sandy wanted to share it with the family and friends who are greiving for the loss of this great lady and past National Queen. "Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die."
