Jane Lindsey Ms Senior America 1990 | |
"Service to others is love in action"
| One does not have to be Ms. Senior America to realize the vital importance and the strong influence that seniors can make in our United States and even in the entire world.
As Ms. Senior America for 1990, I have had a greater opportu¬nity than most to speak to and in behalf of those of the "Age of Elegance" ... so far 185 specific engagements. It is my objective to raise the sights of seniors and to effect a positive opinion of the younger generations about seniors!
This past year has also been for me an OPPORTUNITY to touch more lives, a RESPONSIBILITY to inspire, a COMMITMENT to serve, and a HONOR to represent seniors of the "Age of Elegance". My dedication will continue.
Dr. AI Mott, the Founder of Senior America, Inc., has my utmost praise and deepest appreciation for giving recognition, honor, vitality, and new life to so many through the Ms. Senior America Pageants. The Pageant has a most relevant, meaningful philosophy.
Please join me as together we honor the Past, become excited about Today, and anticipate Tomorrow with an expectation of the very best.

WHO SHE IS
Married to Douglas F. Lindsey for 46 years, a mother of three and grandmother of three, dedicated Christian, and community volunteer.
WHERE SHE IS FROM
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 10, 1922. She has been a resident of Santa Ana, California, for 15 years.
WHAT SHE STANDS FOR
Jane lives by some very simple but strong principles: "I live by the philosophy that each day has something exciting and worthwhile to offer if I look for it." There is no secret to staying active during her senior years. "I'm not of the opinion that we should sit and rest when we reach age 65; service to others is love in action. The more I do, the more I want to do and the better I fee!." She states her philosophy of life by using five action words:
"LOOKING ... to see the good in people, the beauty in nature and the best solution to a problem;
LISTENING ... to truly hear the feeling behind a comment, and to show I care;
LEARNING ... to make me an aware, sensitive decision-maker;
LOVING ... one must first love and respect oneself. Then one can accept and love others; and
LIVING ... life with an expectation for the best--with a smile and a deep faith. In any situation I can choose joy or despair. I choose joy, for I love life."
SPECIAL INTERESTS
Jane is a professional violinist, having played with NBC studio orchestras and civic symphonies. With her husband as her accompanist, they play for state and national conventions, civic organizations, churches, and retirement residences. Besides her music, she is a consultant for Mary Kay cosmetics and assists with promotional campaigns for The Newport Beach Plaza retirement residence. She also enjoys bowling, golf, and teaching parliamentary law.
Jane has been a FHP Senior Plan member for three years and was sponsored by FHP Health Care in both the state and national pageants. She credits FHP Health Care for her active lifestyle by enabling her to stay healthy through preventive health care. "FHP offers so much to keep me well, including health education classes and easy access to medical professionals for regular visits. I honor the past, am excited about today, and anticipate tomorrow."
