to the 1999 Konze Prize Recipients:
First
Prize
Jessie Lee Howard, Ms. North Carolina Senior America 1999, and the Wesleyan
Youth Society of Greensboro, NC,
for her thirty-eight years of service in the Teen Pregnancy
Prevention component of the program. A registered nurse, Ms.
Howard delivers straightforward information on both health
issues and social responsibility, with prevention the first
priority.

Prize
Lona
Mae Sorenson, Ms. Idaho Senior America 1999, and the Blackfoot High School Band,
for her years of service to their music program. Ms. Sorenson
has shared her musical talents with the students of her
community by coaching vocalists, accompanying choirs, and
preparing students for special solo and ensemble performances.
She volunteers for the elementary school teachers by
accompanying for weekly singing.

Prize
Peggy
Livingston, Ms. Nevada Senior America 1999, and the Children’s Cabinet Inc. of
Reno, for her service as the organization’s spokesperson.
The Children’s Cabinet serves an average of 12,000 individuals
annually through its direct service programs and resource and
referral facilities and is a model agency for service delivery
in Northern Nevada.

Inc. is particularly proud to have the President of the Konze
Foundation, Mrs. Marie Ferrera, present at the 1999 Ms. Senior America
Pageant to personally award the 1999 Konze Prizes. Mrs. Ferrara
and the other Trustees of the Konze Foundation seek to encourage all
senior women to exemplify the Senior America philosophy that
"...seniors are the foundation of America... It is upon
their knowledge, experience and resources that the younger generation
has the opportunity to build a better society."
