to the 1998 Konze Prize Recipients
The Trustees
congratulate the 1998 winners and encourage the Class of 1999 to
follow their example in the spirit of the Senior America philosophy.
First
Prize
Anne Lang Pinkerton, Ms. Georgia Sr. 1998 and the Genesis Shelter
for homeless newborns and their families. Ms. Pinkerton is a
volunteer member of the staff. In her original role, her voice
told homeless mothers that they and their babies would have the
support of the Genesis Shelter while they were finding work and living
solutions; today Ms. Georgia Sr. 1998 works directly with the sibling
pre-schoolers in Genesis who are siblings of Anne.

Second
Prize
Annmarie Pittman, Ms. Virginia Sr. 1998 and the Alexandria Commission
for the Arts Youth Dance Outreach Program. As a Volunteer
Commissioner, Ms. Pittman leads a group devoted to children's program
of the Dance Theatre of Harlem Kennedy Center Community Residency
Program. More than 650 children have received the lessons in
self-discipline and positive self-image offered through her outreach.

Prize
Ada Lee Kane, Ms. Kentucky 1998 and the Kentucky School for the
Blind. Ada Lee Kane is a volunteer tap dance teacher at the
Kentucky School for the Blind. In addition to the lessons of
dance, Ms. Kane teaches her own philosophy of sharing. She has
translated her dance dictionary into Braille, and recruited male
teaching assistants to work in her classes.
