The Louise J. Konze Prize

A program honoring senior women for volunteer service to children; administered in conjunction with Senior America, Inc.

[2000 Winners] [1999 Winners] [1998 Winners]

Philip and Louise J. KonzeThe Founders

The Philip and Louise J. Konze Charitable Foundation, Inc. was created by Louise J. Konze as a living memorial for her husband Philip.  Phil took pride in supporting his church, participating in civic affairs, and helping young people get started in life.   Louise enjoyed children, and was ever mindful that her own mother had spent time in an orphanage.  In their later years, the childless couple often acknowledged both gratitude for their success and a sense of obligation toward future generations.   Young people needed solid guidance in the skills of practical living, and the Konze's felt that it was up to their generation to find a means to provide it.

The Prize

The Louise J. Konze Prize program has been established to honor senior women serving children in a volunteer capacity, so as to encourage others to follow suit.  Three prizes are offered, one Five Thousand Dollars, one Three Thousand Dollars, and one Two Thousand Dollars, each awarded to the organization served by its respective winner.   When a winner's organization is a public school, the organization's share of the funds is to be used specifically for the purchase of library books.

Administration of the Prize

Ms. Senior America PageantThe Prize program is administered by the Foundation in conjunction with Senior America Inc., and the winners chosen from amongst the Ms. Senior America contestants by the independent panel of Judges at the Ms. Senior America National Pageant.  In order to qualify, contestants must serve children in a volunteer capacity in connection with an organization unrelated to a hospital, university, or disease support/research group, and submit a short essay and notarized documentation from their immediate supervisors.   All taxes are the responsibility of the winners and all decisions by the Judges are final.

Senior America, Inc.

Senior America, Inc. is proud to have been chosen to select the winners of this prestigious award.  The women participating in the Senior America Pageant are role models in their communities, exemplifying the Senior America philosophy that "...seniors are the foundation of America... It is upon their knowledge, experience and resources that the younger generation has the opportunity to build a better society." For more information, Contact Us.
