CONGRATULATIONS TO Adele Marie VanTiem from McCormick, South Carolina, MS South Carolina Senior America 2009 .

  Adele was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada on March 20th, 1948 to Robert & Florence Gander. She is the eldest of 4 children and was educated there through high school. She attended University in the U.S. majoring in art. Married at age 19 for almost 40 years, she followed her 1st husband all around the country supporting him in his combined military career as an Air Force fighter pilot and later as a Navy Optometrist. Along the way, six amazing children arrived. Tara, Mom of four and Tyler a newlywed, both business entrepreneurs. T. Marie a Stanford Law trained Corporate Attorney. T.J., an Air Force pilot. Tristyn, a recent college graduate and mother of 2 and finally Ashley, a beautiful daughter adopted at the age of four as a multiple handicapped victim of child abuse and the best gift we ever could have asked for. Adele has worked as a pharmacy technician, a dental assistant to an oral surgeon, an optometry assistant and most recently as a highly successful Coldwell Banker real estate agent, winning numerous international sales awards. She has moved 23 times and has had many opportunities to serve in the various communities where she has lived, including teaching upholstery and drapery making classes at a community college, serving as a C.E.R.T (Community Emergency Response Team) leader, doing costume and set design for the Drama Depts at her childrens' high schools, teaching groups of abused women who were in hiding, teaching the computer skills needed to get better jobs in a pilot program called "Turning Point", serving as the V.P. of the Naval Officers Wives Club at Camp Lejeune NC and serving as her church's womens organization president in 3 different cities, as well as a church youth leader for more than 35 years. Her interests include art, home remodeling and construction, interior design, sewing - especially wedding gown design, wedding and event planning, cake decorating, cooking, faux painting, karate and now golf and bass fishing. She recently remarried, June 8, 2008 to be exact. Her sweetheart, Rick, is her best friend and biggest fan. His love & support have made it possible for her to compete in the Ms. Senior America pageant. He always reminds her "You ain't seen nothing yet", and she knows he is absolutely spot on....and so it goes.



 

The Ms Senior America Pageant National Finals will be held at Atlantic City, NJ the week of October 4th, 2009.
