I was born in Texas, lived in Oklahoma and Texas until I was 10 years old. My parents, Jeff and Ethel Aldridge then moved to Southern California as there was more employment opportunity there. While living in California, I married a man from Oklahoma. We had a son and 3 daughters. In time we decided to live full time in Oklahoma.
I became a Real Estate Broker and opened my own business in 1967 in Ada, Oklahoma. I served as the first woman President of the "Ada Board of Realtors" in 1981, then again in 1998. After my divorce in 1978, I became more active in the Board as well as in the community. I also started taking morning and evening classes at East Central University. I graduated with a 3.3 average at age 58.
In Real Estate I was the first realtor to receive the "Realtor Active in Politics Award" in Oklahoma. I received the "Realtor of the Year Award" in 1982 and 1998. I served on the Board of Directors at the state level 8 years and on numerous other committees. I received the 30 year "Life Membership Award" in 1997. In 2008, I received the "Realtor Emeritus Designation", the most prestigious and highest honor that can be bestowed on a Realtor.
In my community I have been a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, served as sec./treas. of Oak Hill Country Club, organized and served as President of Soroptimist International for 2 years, served 2 years as a Silver Haired Legislator for 5 counties. The Ms.
Senior America Pageant is the world's first and foremost
pageant to emphasize and give honor to women who have reached
the "Age of Elegance." It is a search for the gracious lady
who best exemplifies the dignity, maturity and inner beauty of
all senior Americans. The Ms. Senior America philosophy is
based upon the belief that seniors are the foundation of
America, and our most valuable treasure. It is upon their
knowledge, experience and resources that the younger
generation has the opportunity to build a better
society.
