CONGRATULATIONS to the beautiful and talented TAMARA SWIHART, Ms. Ohio Senior America 2009!

 

Tamara treasures God, family, good friends and making new friends out of strangers. Married 52 years, Tamara has 3 children and 2 grandchildren - one serving in the U.S. Marines. She currently works for the County Board of Commissioners, but believes a fulfilled life includes volunteer service. With puppets she teaches grade-schoolers on human anatomy, health practices, nutrition and drug dangers. With her toy poodle (wearing her designer costumes) she helps with, entertains and ministers to nursing home residents, transports and shops for the mentally impaired. Her biggest challenge was being involved in one-on-one activities with Alzheimer pateients in a group setting. Number one in her heart is lecturing on life issues to prisoners and Teen Challenge reisdents. Personally she enjoys new challenges, clogging, singing, hula dancing, fitness, modeling, acting, reading, writing, movies, garage sales, wardrobe recycling, traveling, and flower gardening. She collects crystals, Betty Boop memorabilia, miniatures houses and villages. She has also participated in the Senior Olympics where she received a silver medal in table tennis.
