Born in Philadelphia - Desiree performed on WCAU - Channel 10 "The Childrens' Hour" age 7 to 14. She was, also, chosen from over 100 children to model for the famous John Wanamakers. Desiree, spent summers at their seashore home, and was a regular on the Atlantic City Stell Pier - Tony Grants "Stars of Tomorrow" for many years, starting her love affair with A.C. Desiree performed at many Philadelphia clubs; namely, CR Club, Palumbos & Sciollis, appearing with Tony Bennett, Red Buttons, Jimmy Rodgers, Theresa Brewer, Fischer & Marks and others.
Teenage years found her performing at Frankie Avalon's club along with Frankie Avalon and other Philadelphia legends. Her years of education included the following accomplishments: Honor Student, Valevictorian, School Representative, Editor of the newspaper, Pres. of the Debating Team & Main Protagonist in theatre productions. Form ecuation: Attended Drexel University, University of Penn., St. Joseph's University (for associate courses) and Berlitz School of Languages. Desiree met Martin in Drexel and they married after a truly special courtship. When she decided to have a child she left her position
in the legal dept. of the Phila. School Board. Although, she believed in the importance of staying home through the formative years of children, she still remained active. Desiree taught ballet in her home, started an Interior Design firm, conducted tours to the Phila. Art Museum for children; and, choreographed and directed plays in South Jersey. Eventually, Desiree returned to work outside the home and modeled for John Robert Powers Modeling School & Agency where she took a position as a Consultant and was soon offered the position of Director of Public Relations. During the next 15 years she was employed in Atlantic City.
Positions she held included: Corporate Senior Executive Asst. and later a Marketing Admin. position. During this time, she did TV commercials, commercial posters and print ads for various casinos. Her final position, in a real estate investment company led to a steady climb up the corporate ladder to a promotion as CEO.
In 1993, Desiree and Martin had a ranch built in Pittsgrove, NJ to raise show horses. Desiree trained horses, taught lessons and cared for her five equine friends. She raised a horse who became a national champion and was named Grand Champion. She is an accomplished equestrian in the discipline of Dressage and has won many blue ribbons. Desiree plays piano, guitar and is a prof. dancer. She is a writer and has two novels in process. Still active in modeling events, volunteer work, motivational speaking and bible studies, while entertaining for Cameo Club shows, MBCA events and TV Shows. Desiree has also been a United Way Ambassador.
Five years ago, their love of antiques led Desiree and Martin to purchase a 100 yr. old home which they restored in Chelsea (A.C.) She planned the architecture and design herself. Desiree's title has afforded her opportunities to meet with political leaders and she has been interviewed along with singing on TV and radio. Most important, she has listened to seniors. Her objective instilling others with faith, hope and confidence. Desiree is a wife, mother and grandmother.
