Betty Leeth Haynes was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Marvin and Henrietta Hooten. She was the baby of seven children. Ms. Haynes resides in Hanceville, Alabama with her husband Earnie, who is a retired Navy Sub-Mariner, and Nuclear Engineer. She has 1 daughter, 3 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild.
She is the epitome of the successful senior woman and "The Age of Elegance!" She is an active, spirited woman who gives of herself daily to community and state related activities!
She is a member of the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce and was the recipient of the Chamber's "Emma Marie Eddleman" Citizenship Award for 2002.
She has served 30 years as the only woman on the board of directors at South Trust/Wachovia Bank in Cullman. She serves on the Foundation Board of Directors of Cullman Regional Medical Center, and at their annual "Gala" this year was the recipient of "The Henry Casper Arnold Humanitarian Award" for 2008. She also serves on the board of directors of United Way of Cullman County, and the Foundation Board of Wallace State Community College. She had a past 6 year tenure as a Board member of Hospice of Cullman County. She was a recipient of the "Personality of the South Award."
Betty Leeth Haynes was Crowned Ms. Senior Cullman County in 1997, Ms. Senior Alabama in 1997, and placed in the top 5 at The Ms. Senior America Pageant in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1997. She served as The Director of the Ms. Senior Cullman County Pageant for the past 5 years. Betty's talent is an "Original" Poem and Oration, entitled "I AM A SENIOR AMERICAN," she wrote this in 1997, as a tribute to Sr. America, when she was a contestant in the Ms. Senior America Pageant in Biloxi, Mississippi. It was later adopted as "The Creed" of Senior America. She continues to be active in the local, state and National program and activities.
The Ms. Senior America Pageant is
the world's first and foremost pageant to emphasize and give honor to
women who have reached the "Age of Elegance." It is a search
for the gracious lady who best exemplifies the dignity, maturity and
inner beauty of all senior Americans. The Ms. Senior America philosophy
is based upon the belief that seniors are the foundation of America, and
our most valuable treasure. It is upon their knowledge, experience and
resources that the younger generation has the opportunity to build a
better society.
